What Went Wrong In The CT Final Against Pakistan on Sunday!

The Indian cricket team on Sunday faced a huge setback after losing to the arch-rivals in the CT final. The final match of CT 2017 was not as good as it was meant to be for Indian fans with Pakistan defying the odds in the ultimate game and when required the most.

The title holders India didn’t play to their potential and eventually ended up on losing side. After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Indian bowlers seemed nowhere in the game after Fakhar Zaman, the lucky star of the match ended up getting a cracking century.(All thanks to Jasprit Bumrah for taking his wicket on a no-ball).

Given a target of 338 to chase, the Indian top order demolished against the fireworks of Mohammad Amir. His menacing spell put Indian batting pillars in the dugout including the hunt master, Virat Kohli. The experienced players MS Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh could not do anything and got out cheaply.

Hardik Pandya glimpsed some hope with his sublime 76 of 43, but Sir Ravindra Jadeja came in between and got him run out. Eventually, India Lost to a team whom they had thrashed by 124 runs in their opening match on June 4.

The skipper, Virat Kohli, backed his team and praised Pakistan for their outstanding performance. Kohli said in the post game conference, “I want to congratulate Pakistan. They had an amazing tournament, the way they turned things around, speak volumes for the talent they have. They proved it again, they can upset anyone on their day, disappointing for us but I have a smile on my face because we played well to reach the final.”

It was really an off day for team India, here are some instances when the game slipped from India’s hands.

Bumrah, No Ball, Ind vs Pak, CT

Apart from death-over specialist Jasprit Bumrah is also turning out to be ‘No-ball specialist’ for team India. He dismissed Pakistan’s opener Fakhar in the very first delivery of the fourth over and which was later declared a no-ball. The opener then went to score a massive ton for his team.

India vs Pak, Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin

The spin-duo didn’t seem in their brilliant form with Jadeja conceding at a rate of slightly over 8 while Ashwin over 7 runs per over without taking any wicket.

Virat Kohli tried all his bowling options but nothing really paid off except Kedar Jadhav picking up a wicket. The skipper didn’t fire with bat either and was caught after playing a loose shot. It is notable that he had edged the previous ball and was dropped still he attempted another loose shot.

4. Middle order’s flop show:

The middle order’s collapse led India in a position from where India could never bounce back. Yuvraj Singh, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav didn’t rise to the occasion and were out cheaply.

Ravindra Jadeja didn’t have a memorable day on the field. After a poor bowling performance he got Hardik Pandya run out when the right handed batsman seemed in a super fine touch. Hardik was dismissed for 76 of 43 balls and with his wicket died the hopes of India winning the match.
