The year 2017 witnessed the launch of some of the best smartphones with innovative design and excellent performance. Hence, this year we are expecting a bit more, and that’s exactly we’re getting in 2018. So, this year, as well, the smartphone makers like Apple, Samsung, Nokia, Oneplus, Sony, LG etc are set to unveil their next-generation smartphone with the top of high-end specs.

So, here’s over to some of the big-ticket smartphone launches scheduled for 2018.


ONEPLUS 6 Smartphone

With its very first device, Oneplus One launched in 2014, One plus becomes a very popular smartphone brand, Known for its powerful hardware along with customizable software at competitive prices.

Now, the makers of Oneplus are all set to launch its next-generation flagship smartphones. Likely to be called Oneplus 6, the smartphone will be launched in the second quarter of the year. The Oneplus 6 would be powered by the Snapdragon 845, as all previous Oneplus phone has adopted the latest Qualcomm Chipset. Wireless charging could be on the card, but can’t bet on that.

Oneplus has already started boasting that the phone will offer “the speed you need”, and rumours also suggest that it will feature 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of onboard Storage.

While there have been rumours about the presence of a 16MP + 16MP dual Front Camera and 23MP primary camera. The leak from China had pegged the price of the 256GB variant at CNY 4,399, which amounts to around ₹ 45,600.

The Google has been making inroads into the smartphone market over the past couple of years. And the Google Pixel 3, is slated for release later in 2018. Google’s new Android P software will not only support an iPhone X-like notch but may copy iPhone X gestures and do away with at least some software buttons along the bottom of the screen.

The Pixel 3 was referenced in a record of changes to Android source code. According to a report in Droid Life, Google is working on three new Pixel devices for this year. The devices, which were discovered in a source-code leak last year, are code-named “crosshatch,” “albacore” and “blueline.”

Google is reportedly working on a low-cost Pixel 3 for developing countries. It’s unclear what that model might look like. If Google followed a similar pattern as previous years this time around, the Pixel 3 release date would be in Oct 2018.

Back in Nov 2017, Apple’s Officials predicted that three new models would launch in autumn 2018 and that these would have the same all-screen design with the now-familiar notch. In January he followed up with more details of each model:

  • 5.8in OLED: iPhone 11 or XI, with largely same design as iPhone X
  • 6.5in OLED: iPhone X Plus or XI Plus
  • 6.1in LCD: a cheaper alternative – starting at around ₹6800 – with the notch design of the X but slightly larger bezels. It will feature Face ID but not 3D Touch and won’t have twin camera lenses on the rear.

The device is powered by Octa core, 2.8 GHz, Kyro 385 processor paired with 6 GB of RAM. As far as the battery is concerned it has 3400 mAh. Over that, as far as the rear camera is concerned this mobile has a 12 MP camera CMOS image sensor.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9

Samsung is obviously feeling confident about its forthcoming Note 9 smartphone, as it’s given it the codename ‘Crown’. That’s according to a tweet from reliable leaker Even Blass, who said in the same tweet that the model number would be SM-N960U.

We’ve heard that the screen will be a little larger than that of the Note 8. While the battery will be getting a significant upgrade to either 4,000mAh or 3,850mAh.

We’re also hearing about the possible inclusion of an on-screen fingerprint reader, and that the Note 9 will be faster than the Galaxy S9 Plus.
