The hero of this final was Dinesh Karthik being the last ball thriller. Dinesh Karthik smashed off Soumya Sarkar over extra cover in a tense situation to take India to victory. Dinesh finished a run chase with a six off the last ball that helped them cross their target of 167 for India. The 8 deliveries that he faced in the match are the most important ones of his career, till now. His 29-run-inning might not look impressive on the scoreboard but it was the need of the hour that night to win the Nidahas Trophy Tri-Series 2018 which every Indian will remember. Former cricketers along with Karthik’s teammates and other celebrities also congratulated him and the team on Twitter for the proper finishing of the match that led to India’s win!

Celebration mocked after India win Nidahas Trophy

The Bangladesh cricket team performed the snake/‘nagin’ dance celebration, after beating Sri Lanka in the last league match. The same response came back to haunt them on Sunday after Dinesh Karthik’s late heroics. As India took upper hand during the game, the Sri Lankan crowd immediately mocked the snake dance celebration of the Bangladesh team. A few in the crowd also mimicked Amila Aponso’s ‘pungi’ (flute) celebration as India looked on course for victory. The reason for the same was quite clear. After defeating Sri Lanka, Bangladesh’s post-match celebrations had seemingly left the hosts with full of discontent. Leaving Shakib Al Hasan’s side playing in front of a hostile crowd Lankans were just ready to defeat them through India in Sunday’s final.

The raged environment during and after the game has pushed the Sri Lankan fans towards India. In return of the snake dance, the arguments, the speculations over the broken dressing-room glass we could see the reactions. More mockery ensued on social media when India witnessed a thrilling four-wicket win in the last ball of the game. The Sri Lankan fans who watched off the stadium also copied the dance. They exclaimed about India’s win so much that it seemed Sri Lanka had won themselves.

Here is the flick of some hostel boys who showed up their excitement with the snake dance.
