India is a consumer for the variety of goods – from frozen foods to technology. In the mobile world, Nokia once was a company which ruled it for the longest time. But those days are gone!

The development of technology in India has become very slow. Moreover we often need to depend on foreign countries for supply.

But then we also have Indian companies who produce mobile phones, tablets and much more.

Here is the list of top 5 India based company which produces technology for Indians.

1. Micromax Mobile

Micromax is an Indian company with its headquarters in Gurgaon, Haryana. In the year 2010, it was one of the largest domestic companies making handsets in the low-cost feature phone segment.

In April 2017 it announced Evok power and Evok note.

The company started selling the mobile phones with the sole focus on low pricing to compete with other foreign brands in 2008.

On 24 January 2014, it became the first Indian mobile company to start sales in Russia.

In 2010, Micromax entered the tablet computer market with the Funbook series.

The launch of Canvas Knight A350,  in Russia in 2014 was also monumental moment.

The launch of Android One smartphone, canvas A1 was also done in the same year.

Micromax partnered with CyanogenMod to provide cyanogen-based smartphones in India, under the brand name YU in the year 2014.

With the entry of Jio services, India has witnessed tremendous adoption to 4G enabled mobile phones.

Now, Micromax has started rolling out basic smartphones with 4g capabilities under Bharat Series. So the far, company have already launched Bharat-2 – which is considered as one of India’s cheapest 4G mobile phone.

2. I- Ball

This is another electronic consumer company with its headquarters in Andheri, Mumbai.

iBall started operations in September 2001, initially selling computer mouse.The total revenue of the company is 10 billion. It employs more than 3000 people.

In May 2016, they formed a strategic partnership with Intel and Microsoft. Then, they launched India’s most affordable Windows 10 Laptop – iBall CompBook at just Rs.9,999.

Later they launched Andi Uddaan smartphone for women, where a sos was located at the back of the phone sounds a loud siren that automatically sends text messages (SMS) to five pre-selected contacts when pressed.

3. Karbonn

Karbonn is a totally Indian company. This is a joint venture between a Banglore based firm United Telelinks Limited and Noida based firm Jaina Marketing & Associates.

The firm’s total investment in the Indian consumer market was over US$5 million in the year 2011

They gained popularity when they struck a deal with Eros International, the makers of Rajnikanth starer film kochadaiyaan (2013).

It will involve five lakh Kochadaiyaan merchandise with screen savers and images from the film along with the trailer, behind the scenes shots, the signature tune of the film and lead actor’s signature on the back cover of phones.

Products with these additions will be available in the market in 2012.

Next was the launch of Karbonn K9 Virat on 26 August 2016 in India.

The device has a 5.5 inch IPS display with the resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.

The smartphone has a 1.3 GHz quad core power processor with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage

4. Spice Telecom

Spice Telecom was the brand name of Spice Communications Ltd, which was a mobile service provider in India.

Idea cellular took over the ownership of Spice Telecom for over Rs 2,700 crore. They founded it in 1997.

Idea brought it in 2008 which is also an Indian based company with its headquarters in Mumbai, Maharastra.

Spice Mobile phones offer a wide range of GSM and dual sim handset at the lowest price.

5. Lava Mobile

Lava is also in the long list of Indian based company which produces mobile phones.

Their headquarters is in Noida, Delhi. Their initial name was Pacetel communications which was established in 2003.

Later on, in 2009, they renamed it Lava International.

In 2012, chip-maker Intel tied up with Lava International thereby together they announced the first Intel-powered smartphone in India under the brand name Xolo.

In the same year, Lava entered the tablet business with E-Tab Z7H In 2014. Lava launched its flagship smartphone, Iris Pro 30 which is the first in the Iris Pro series.

Lava Iris X1 was among the earliest smartphones in India that used the Android KitKat operating system.

The company launched its first Windows Phone smartphone, Iris Win1 in December of 2014.

The launch of  X50 smartphone which runs on Android 5.1 lollipop was also popular in year 2016.

Finally this year, they have launched its first feature phone Lava 4G Connect M1.
