Former IPL champion teams namely Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are all set to hit the ground in the next session of IPL.
It should be noted that both the above teams are suspended from the IPL for two years. The owners of both the above franchises were found guilty in the IPL scandal because of which Supreme Court of India banned the teams from playing in IPL for upcoming two sessions.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals is looking for its new co-owner. Talks are going on with a leading franchise of the north. If everything went smooth, the new franchise will be re-purchasing Suresh Chellaram’s 49% share in the ownership structure. There are also rumors that Rajasthan Royals will come up with a new name.
Being the iconic teams of IPL and former champions, BCCI is well prepared to give these teams a grand invitation to IPL. IPL fans must be aware regarding the previous records of these two teams. In the debut session of IPL, Rajasthan Royals was the winner beating Chennai Super Kings by 3 wickets in the final match. While Chennai Super Kings won the 2010 and 2011 session consecutively by defeating Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore consecutively. It should be noted that Chennai Super Kings is among the most successful team of IPL who played the final match of IPL 6 times out of 9 sessions of Indian Premier League.
According to some recent news from a CSK official, MS Dhoni will return back to his team Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2018 session. Fans are eagerly waiting for CSK’s return. One of the fans quoted that he don’t find IPL exciting without Chennai Super Kings. Even one of the commentators stated that he is missing all the actions performed by Chennai Super Kings’s players.
