Launch date of Hyundai Ioniq in India
The Hyundai Ioniq was first showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016, followed by an appearance in the New York Auto Show. Moreover, the manufacturer showcased the vehicle in India at the 2018 Auto Expo. Various reliable sources have confirmed that the car will start its journey in the second half of the year, and India could be one of the first markets to get the car.
The Power plant
The vehicle churns out its required power from a 1.6-litre Kappa GDi four-cylinder petrol engine, which is accompanied by a 42hp electric motor. It can make up to 144hp of power and 315 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The Hybrid car is capable of delivering 29.41 km/l mileage along with the CO2 emissions of 79 g/km. This makes the vehicle more eco-friendly as well as fuel efficient.
The vehicle is built with aluminum so that the weight of the car reduces and that is one of the main reasons behind making the car fuel efficient. The manufacturer uses Advanced High Strength Steel or AHSS more than half of the structure. It features Bi-Xenon HID headlamps which are surrounded by daytime running light.
More so, a wide range of other dimension features is also available like stylish alloy wheels, power-operated sunroof, and electrically-foldable ORVMs.
The Hyundai Ioniq gets a 5-inch color LCD infotainment system, which is accompanied by a 4.2-inch LCD color display. The color display is placed on the dashboard and contains a lot of information such as speed, energy level, and all the key parameters. Moreover, the seats are also well-cushioned and height adjustable.
Braking and Safety
As for the braking, the car feature disc brakes with anti-lock braking system (ABS). The hybrid car comes with seven airbags to keep the driver as well as the passengers safe. Moreover, to absorb high impact collisions, the aluminum body is equipped with advanced high-strength steel alloys. India’s second-largest automaker, Hyundai is all set to bring its first hybrid vehicle, Ioniq to India. The car comes with a spacious and entertainment-packed interior, powerful engine and SUVish design. It is all set to go up against to the segment leader like the Toyota Prius hybrid. It is expected that the base variant of the Hyundai Ioniq will be priced Rs. 25 lakh, whereas, the top-spec model will carry a price tag of Rs. 30 lakhs.
